1. Who we are

VehiclePal is a vehicle management mobile application developed and operated by NPS (Nickname Pending Software). When we say "VehiclePal," "we," "us," or "our" in this policy, we mean NPS. You can reach us at privacy@vehiclepal.app.

2. Data we collect

Account data

• Email address (required to create an account)
• Display name (optional)
• Hashed password — we never store your password in plain text
• JWT access token and refresh token metadata (expiry, device identifiers)

Vehicle data

• Vehicle details you enter (year, make, model, nickname, VIN, license plate)
• Fuel logs, mileage records, and cost entries
• Service and repair records
• Reminder and alert configurations
• Insurance and registration notes
• Trip and mileage data (if gig worker mode is enabled)

Billing data

Payment processing is handled by Stripe, Inc. We never see or store your full card number or CVV. We store only the Stripe customer ID and subscription status needed to unlock paid features.

Usage data

• App version, device operating system, and general region
• Crash reports and diagnostic logs (without personal identifiers when possible)

3. How we use your data

• To provide and improve VehiclePal features
• To send service reminders and alerts you have configured
• To manage your subscription and process payments via Stripe
• To respond to support requests
• To diagnose crashes and fix bugs
• To comply with applicable law

We do not sell or rent your personal information to third parties.

4. Where data is stored

VehiclePal stores your data in cloud infrastructure hosted in the United States. All data is encrypted in transit using TLS 1.2 or higher. Passwords are hashed using bcrypt. Databases are encrypted at rest. We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to comply with legal obligations.

• Stripe — payment processing (stripe.com/privacy)
• Cloudflare — CDN and DDoS protection (cloudflare.com/privacypolicy)
• Microsoft Azure / SQL — cloud database hosting
• Apple Push Notification Service / Firebase Cloud Messaging — push notifications

6. Data sharing

• With service providers listed above, strictly to deliver the service
• With other drivers you have explicitly invited to a household or fleet
• When required by law, court order, or government request
• To protect the rights, property, or safety of VehiclePal, our users, or the public

7. Children's privacy

VehiclePal is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Contact us if you believe a child has provided us with personal information and we will delete it promptly.

8. Your rights

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate data within app settings
• Delete your account and all data via Settings → Account → Delete Account, or by emailing us
• Export your vehicle data (CSV/JSON) within the app
• Opt out of marketing emails at any time via the unsubscribe link

EU/EEA residents have additional GDPR rights. California residents have rights under the CCPA, including the right to know and the right to non-discrimination.

9. Data retention

We retain your data until you delete your account. After deletion, data is purged within 30 days except where retention is required by law. Anonymised, aggregated analytics data may be retained indefinitely.

10. Security

We implement TLS encryption in transit, bcrypt password hashing, encrypted databases, and regular security reviews. If you discover a vulnerability, please disclose it to security@vehiclepal.app.

11. Changes to this policy

We will notify you of significant changes by email or in-app notice at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.

1. About VehiclePal

VehiclePal is developed and operated by NPS (Nickname Pending Software) ("Company," "we," "us," or "our"). The service lets you track vehicles, log fuel and mileage, record services, set reminders, and manage households and fleets on paid plans.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use VehiclePal. If you are under 18, you must have a parent or guardian's permission. By using the service you confirm you meet these requirements.

3. Accounts

• Register with a valid email address and a password.
• You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential.
• Notify us immediately of any unauthorised account use.
• Do not share your account or create accounts on others' behalf without authorisation.
• We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

4. Subscriptions and billing

• By subscribing, you authorise recurring monthly charges via Stripe.
• Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled before the renewal date.
• Prices are in USD and may change with 30 days' notice.
• All fees are non-refundable except as required by law or at our discretion.
• Downgrading takes effect at the next billing cycle.

5. Cancellation

Cancel any time via Settings → Subscription → Cancel or by contacting us. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Your account then reverts to the free Personal tier and data exceeding that tier's limits becomes read-only.

To permanently delete your account and all data, use Settings → Account → Delete Account or email support@vehiclepal.app.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use VehiclePal for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt unauthorised access to any account, server, or network
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the application
• Use bots or scrapers to extract data without written consent
• Upload malicious code or content intended to harm others
• Impersonate any person or entity
• Resell or sublicense access to the service without authorisation

7. Your data and content

You own the data you enter into VehiclePal. By using the service you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store and process your content solely to provide and improve the service. We may use aggregated, anonymised data to improve VehiclePal; it will never identify you or your vehicles.

8. Intellectual property

VehiclePal's design, code, trademarks, and NPS-created content are owned by NPS and protected by applicable law. These Terms do not grant you any right to use our name, logo, or trademarks without prior written permission.

9. Disclaimers

VehiclePal is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee uninterrupted service or that reminders will always be delivered. Fuel economy estimates and service interval suggestions are informational only — always follow manufacturer recommendations and consult a licensed mechanic for safety-critical decisions.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, NPS shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of VehiclePal. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the prior 12 months, or USD $50, whichever is greater.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless NPS and its officers, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, and expenses (including attorneys' fees) arising from your use of VehiclePal or violation of these Terms.

12. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Delaware, USA. Disputes shall be resolved through binding arbitration under AAA rules, except either party may seek injunctive relief in court.

13. Changes to these Terms

We will provide at least 14 days' notice of material changes via email or in-app notification. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
